Piazza Garibaldi redevelopment and design of new underground parking in Cassano d’Adda – UNREALISED
2011
Cassano d’Adda
The project proposal concerned the urban regeneration of Piazza Garibaldi and the surrounding streets of the old town in Cassano d’Adda.
During the design phase, the focus was on the use of the entire square as a meeting place, the relocation of the existing fountain, the redistribution of public car parks, street furniture appropriate to the old town and the use of two stone materials in order to obtain a homogeneous flooring. The urban project also involved the construction of a car park with three underground floors in via Rossini, with 240 parking spaces. The objective was to eliminate the current flush street car parking and turn it into a public park with children’s playground, pedestrian and vehicular access to the underground parking and ticketing.
